People of Plymouth 1915 Exhibition at Ford Park Cemetery
Interest in the Great War continues with stories of the battles fought and the hardships endured by the Armed Services one hundred years ago. Ford Park Cemetery Trust’s latest exhibition reflects on the conflict and offers a local perspective on the lives of some of the families of Plymouth during the second year of the Great War.
Ford Park Cemetery is Plymouth’s oldest working cemetery which is run as a charitable trust by a small number of full time and part time staff and a large group of volunteers.
There is significant local interest in the heritage of the cemetery and the more than 220,000 people buried there since 1848.
The volunteer groups within the cemetery include a Heritage Team whose primary aims are to research the lives of those buried in the cemetery and, to curate four exhibitions each year telling the stories of Plymouth’s people and places and to provide both public and private guided walks around the cemetery.
The exhibition, “People of Plymouth 1915” runs from 8th August until 27th September and is free to the public but donations are gratefully received.
